WEB GALLERY POST: The owner of this little donkey named Steinbok, walked many miles to find us and ask us to help his donkey. His neighbor angrily chopped little Steinboks back hoof off because the donkey accidentally went into his maize field. We brought him back to our sanctuary where he was quite happy to lie down with his head in lap while she sang to him. Our farrier trimmed his 3 hooves while we went to work on his stump. We have cleaned and bandaged it and have put a temporary shoe on it until it heals well enough to get him a prosthetic.
He stood up with no problem and started eating his pile of hay. Donkeys are the most stoic animals l have ever worked with we will do everything we can for Steinbok to be able to walk freely again. The culprit will be charged in the courts of law. Thank you Cindy A. Lee for helping us to help Steinbok. We are so grateful.
